Cocoa Shells

Benetta Lobo
After Milk Toffees, I think Cocoa Shells is my other Christmas favourite sweet treat. It is very similar to a chocolate fudge and extremely delicious. If you are a Chocolate lover this should definitely be on your Christmas platter.
Other than that you can always make this fudgy Choco balls and enjoy them! This is a very simple recipe and the only time consuming part is stirring of the Chocolate mixture to its right consistency.

Equipment

  • Non Stick Pan

Ingredients

  • 1 litre Milk
  • 2 tins Condensed Milk
  • 4 tbsp Cocoa Powder Mix with half cup of warm milk and dissolve
  • 1/4 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Walnuts small pieces
  • Butter for greasing the tray As required

Instructions

  • Boil the milk until it becomes half the quantity and thick
  • Now add both tins of the Condensed milk and keep stirring
  • Now add the the Cocoa powder mixture in the milk
  • Keep stirring on medium flame
  • In the meanwhile grease a separate tray with butter (Mixture will be poured onto this tray). Put Butter Paper on or grease a separate tray to lay the Cocoa balls
  • Tip: There is no need to add any sugar as it will have the correct amount of sweetness. If you like it sweeter you may add 1 cup of sugar
  • Please stir continuously and scrape any edges from the side and combine with the mixture
  • It will take about 1.5 hours or more depending on the flame, so keep stirring from time to time so that it doesn't stick to the dish
  • When the mixture doesn't stick to the dish and is of thick and sticky consistency , that's the time when you add the butter and combine it with the chocolate mixture. Tip: As soon as it starts to harden a bit that's the time you need to remove it from the stove
  • Pour the mixture on the greased tray
  • Now grease your hands well or wear latex gloves and make small balls out of the Chocolate mixture. Use a teaspoon to get equal measurement of the Cocoa balls
  • Note: The Cocoa shells needs to be made immediately while it is hot
  • Now put a piece of Walnut on each Cocoa Shell and press slightly
  • Let the Cocoa Shells cool over night if the weather is cool or in hot weather it needs to be left for 24 hours to 36 hours to cool and dry
  • Serve this delicious Christmas delight with your other Christmas sweets.
  • Store in a air-tight container
