Chicken Shashlik is a very simple recipe and I would recommend it for those who are looking for a healthy option. These are very delicious sticks and can be grilled or baked. I have also added a sauce to the recipe which will definitely lift the flavour of this dish.
This dish is best served with some Fried Rice. You may also serve these skewers by itself as an appetizer or a snack dish.

Ingredients
  

Ingredients for Chicken marination

  • 1/2 kg Boneless Chicken cut in cubes
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 tsp Paprika Powder You may use Red Chilli Powder as an alternative
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Soya Sauce
  • Salt According to taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Ingredients for the sticks

  • 1 Tomato (Deseeded) cut in cubes
  • 1 Onion cut in cubes
  • 1 Capsicum (Deseeded) cut in cubes

Ingredients for Shashlik Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 1 cup Tomato Ketchup/Tomato Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste/Puree
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tbsp Chilli Sauce/Hot Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Soya Sauce
  • Water As required
  • Salt According to taste

Instructions for Shashlik Skewers

  • Add all the ingredients to the boneless cubed Chicken and marinate it for atleast an hour in the refrigerator.
  • Now skew the marinated chicken and the cubed vegetables on the sticks/skewers
  • Pour some oil on a Grill pan and grill the skewers until cooked. Remember to turn the skewers from time to time
  • You may also Bake the Skewers in a preheated oven for 15-20 minutes on 180°C
  • Your Chicken Shashlik sticks are ready, now it's time to make the sauce

Instructions for Shashlik Sauce

  • Heat Oil in a Pan and sauté the garlic paste until fragrant
  • Add the tomato ketchup/sauce, tomato paste/puree and all the other ingredients (besides water) and mix well
  • Once the sauce starts to bubble, add some water
  • Now cook on slow flame for about 5-6 minutes until you get your desired consistency. You may cook it for a bit longer if you want it thicker

  • When serving the Shashlik sticks pour some of the sauce over it for a nice saucy flavour
