Chicken Hariyali
Hariyali chicken curry is a green curry with mint, coriander and green chili flavours. It is quite a famous Chicken Dish of Punjabi Cuisine. Some people like to cook it with whole chicken, where as I personally like boneless chicken for this. In anyways it is a very tasty Chicken dish.This dish is especially served at the local Indian Dhabas and is fondly eaten with Tandoori Rotis.Give this recipe a try and I am sure you will enjoy it's unique taste.
Ingredients
- 1 kg Chicken Boneless/with Bones
- 3 Onions Finely Chopped
- 1.5 tbsp Ginger & Garlic Paste
- 1 tbsp Coriander Power
- 1 tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
- 6-7 Green Chillies You may increase or decrease the quantity as per your preferred spice level. This quantity will give a mild flavour
- 1/2 cup Fresh Coriander
- 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves
- 3/4 cup Yogurt
- 3 tbsp Lemon juice
- Salt According to taste
Instructions
- Grind the Chillies, Lemon juice, Coriander and Mint leaves to form a thick Chutney like paste
- In a separate dish pour some Oil and fry the Onions until translucent, please don't brown them
- Now add the Ginger & Garlic Paste and sauté until fragrant
- Add the Chicken pieces and mix well for about 4-5 minutes until the Chicken changes its colour
- Now add all the spices and salt and mix well
- Add the Green paste that you had prepared earlier and mix again
- Mix well until the oil separates
- Now add the yogurt at the end and mix for about 2-3 minutes
- Cover the Chicken and let it cook
- Once the Chicken is completely cooked and the Oil floats your dish is ready
- You can either dry out the dish or have it with some gravy
- Garnish with some Coriander leaves and Green Chillies
- Serve with Rotis, Nans, Chapatis or Rice
