Shahi Tukray is a very traditional Meetha which dates back from the Mughal Dynasty. It is a very simple dessert, which can be quickly prepared and when garnished and served, it definitely looks like a fancy dessert.The main Ingredient of this dish is definitely bread slices. You may use either white or brown bread depending on your choice. Some people dip the Bread slices in Sugar syrup before putting the Milk Mixture, but in this recipe I have mixed the sugar with the Milk.If you have any left over bread slices, you may prepare this easy and delicious dish and "Wow", your friends and family!
Ingredients
- 3 cups Milk (Full Cream)
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 6 Bread Slices
- 1/2 tsp Kewra Essence
- 5-6 Saffron Strands You may use a pinch of Zarda Colour if your don't have Saffron
- 1/4 tsp Green Cardamom Powder Elaichi Powder
- 1/2 cup Hot Water
- 1 tbsp Almonds Sliced
- 1 tbsp Pistachios Sliced
- 1 tbsp Raisins
- Oil For shallow frying the Bread
Instructions
- Pour Milk into a deep dish
- Add the Sugar, Cardamom Powder, Hot Water and Saffron Strands
- Now keep cooking the Milk on slow flame whilst stirring continuously for about 15-20 minutes until it slightly thickens
- You can keep the thickness consistency as per your choice
- Now add all the dry fruits into the Milk mixture and stir well
- Add the Kewra essence and stir again
- Keep the Milk mixture aside
- In a separate pan add some oil and heat it
- Now Shallow fry the bread slices until golden brown on both sides
- Lay the fried bread slices n a kitchen towel or absorbent paper
- Cut the slices from the middle to form triangles
Instructions for serving
- Now pour some of the Milk mixture in a serving tray
- Add the triangle bread slices on top of the mixture
- Pour the rest of the Milk on the Bread slices so that it is fully covered
- Cover and refrigerate
- Serve Chilled and garnish with Almonds, Pistachios and Raisins
